Colfax Community Network

Taking pictures is what I do. Im very proud to call myself a photographer and I believe in capturing the special moments in life. Below you will see my first eye opening experience as a photographer. I was shooting for the Colfax Community Network. It is a local, non-profit organization in Denver that works on behalf of the children and families living in botels off of Colfax Avenue. This is the Christmas Banquet that I was honored to be a part of.

The line of people waiting to get in.
For a split second in time, everything is okay.
Siblings that just couldn't wait to get in and see all the toys.
A family smiling despite all their troubles. Truly a beautiful thing to see.
There was hundreds of toys to pick from and each child got to choose which one they would like to have. Barbie will make any kid smile but look at those eyes light up!

Free dinner for everyone to enjoy too!

Santa came to dinner too! He gave out a stocking full of candy and toys to everyone that sat on his lap. Polaroid prints were handed out as a souvenir .
I got to meet a doctor that day.
The Boy Scouts of America were there to lend a hand of creativity.
This is a girl that I will never forget. Her name is Frankie, just like my best friend growing up. She was having a blast going from table to table creating different things for her family. This was a candy cane made of pipe cleaner and beads.
He was concentrating...
So proud of her hard work! I love her name!
I had never seen so many beautiful children in one place. Truly amazing.

He was so funny. He spoke very little english but he thought peek-a-boo was hilarious... Reminds me of someone else I know!! :)

All in all, it was a day I will never forget!

  1. I can imagine my kids waking up on Christmas morning to have no presents to open. And to have only one gift. We have so many gifts and not just material ones. The gift of love and family. We need to be so thankful for what we have. I love my family. Billie I am proud of you.
